Overview

Peak is the holding company of Track Utilities, SiteWise, Kelly Cable and Riley Brothers. We connect clients with outsourced natural gas, telecom, electric utility, and infrastructure services through our subsidiaries. The position of Corporate Council is part of the Senior Leadership team reporting directly to the CEO.

Responsibilities

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide day-to-day legal counsel to company stakeholders on general corporate and compliance matters, specifically insurance, contracts and claims counsel
  • Provides legal representation to the organization in insurance claims-related litigation
  • Consults with senior management to resolve issues and decide settlements.
  • Contract negotiation and drafting
  • Acts as Attorney of Record
  • Manages outside legal contracts, partnerships, and associated costs
  • Assist with employment legal matters

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Demonstrate a business-friendly approach to legal problem solving and be able to effectively counsel internal clients by providing them with clear and concise practical advice as well as creative solutions
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with all levels and to keep relevant stakeholders regularly and timely updated
  • Able to quickly gain a rapport and working relationship with business personnel to encourage and continue the proactive use of in-house legal counsel
  • Proficient in setting priorities and managing expectations with respect to deliverables and deadlines
  • Self-starter who is sharp, quick to pick up new concepts, and willing to dig in and become an “expert” as needs arise
  • A proven ability to manage multiple projects
  • Must be able to travel as necessary

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • JD from accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice law and in good standing in Colorado
  • Ten years of experience in a law firm or corporate setting, with solid contract drafting experience.
  • Experience with real estate law and utility regulation is helpful, but not required.
  • Five years of litigation experience.
